Founded in 1977 as a specialized agency of the Organisation of African Unity, now African Union, in the field of telecommunications, the African Telecommunications Union (ATU-UAT) took its present name in 1999. This led to the transformation of the agency into a partnership between public and private stakeholders in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.
Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar
The Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar is an air traffic control agency based in Dakar, Senegal. It manages 16.1 million square kilometres of airspace covering six Flight Information Regions – Antananarivo, Brazzaville, Dakar Oceanic and Terrestrial, Niamey and N’Djamena.

Nilesat
Nilesat is a leading satellite operator company that provides direct-to-home (DTH) broadcasting, satellite broadband over Egypt, and other communication services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It operates a fleet of geostationary satellites that deliver a wide range of television channels and radio stations, as well as data and internet connectivity to millions of households, businesses, and governmental organizations.
ANGOSAT - GGPEN
It is a communications satellite designed to provide telecommunications services. Design and construction began in December 2019, with ISS Reshtnev serving as the main constructor.It was designed and built to cover the entire African continent and a significant portion of Southern Europe on the C-band, and nearly complete coverage of southern Africa on the Ku-band. The Ka-band will be used only by the Gateway, which will be located in Funda, Icolo, and Bengo.
NIGCOMSAT
The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited is a Government owned limited liability company established on the 4th of April, 2006 presently under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy. NIGCOMSAT is responsible for the management and operation of Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat-1R), a geostationary satellite launched on the 19th of December 2011. It is the first of its kind in Sub Saharan Africa due to its uniqueness. NigComSat-1R satellite is a quad (4) band satellite designed specifically to address the connectivity needs of Africa, covering parts of Asia and Europe. The quad band frequencies includes; C-band, Ku-band, Ka-band and L-band.
ALSAT
AlSat (Algerian Satellite), a 90 kg enhanced microsatellite is Algeria’s first national satellite and has been designed and constructed by SSTL at the Surrey Space Centre (UK) within a collaborative programme with the Algerian Centre National des Techniques Spatiales (CNTS).
AlSat is part of a wider international collaboration to launch the first constellation of Earth observation satellites specifically designed for disaster monitoring. The AlSat 1 enhanced microsatellite carries specially-designed Earth imaging cameras which provide 32-meters resolution imaging in 3 spectral bands (NIR, red, green) with an extremely wide imaging swath of 600 km on the ground that enables a revisit of the same area anywhere in the world at least every 4 days with just a single satellite. AlSat 1 is the first satellite in the Surrey-led Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC) which will comprises 5 microsatellites in low Earth orbit by the end of 2003.
