Uganda’s Minister of State for Information, Communications, Technology, and National Guidance, Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, paid a special visit to the RASCOM exhibition booth at the ongoing NewSpace Africa Conference.
Welcomed warmly by Mr. Timothy Ashong, Director General of the Regional African Satellite Communication Organization (RASCOM), the visit provided an opportunity to reinforce the strategic partnership between Uganda and RASCOM. Mr. Ashong offered insights into the organization’s mission to bridge the digital divide through accessible and reliable satellite communications, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
During the exchange, Hon. Ssebugwawo commended RASCOM’s pivotal role in supporting African countries to develop and expand their satellite connectivity infrastructure. She reaffirmed Uganda’s readiness to collaborate with RASCOM, emphasizing the importance of working together to extend digital services to communities that are often left behind.
“RASCOM’s commitment to ensuring that no part of Africa is left unconnected is unwavering,” Mr. Ashong noted. “We are honored by the Minister’s visit and her expression of support. Uganda’s leadership in ICT advancement is truly commendable, and we look forward to supporting the country’s satellite communication goals through innovative solutions and dedicated technical support.”
Mr. Ashong further highlighted that RASCOM is prepared to work closely with Uganda and other member states to provide affordable satellite solutions tailored to each country’s unique needs, reinforcing the organization’s overarching vision of a connected and empowered Africa.
The NewSpace Africa Conference continues to serve as a key platform for industry players, policymakers, and stakeholders to showcase innovation and forge strategic partnerships that advance Africa’s position in the global space economy.
